First Minister's Reading List Launch

  • CodeBase 38 Castle Terrace Edinburgh, Scotland, EH3 9DZ United Kingdom (map)

This event is the launch of the inaugural David Hume Institute First Minister's Reading List.

Intended as a fresh way to prompt discussion about the state of the nation, the list will bring together the best policy-relevant writing from Scotland, the UK and abroad; around six books (and the occasional article) the First Minister, or indeed any Scot, would find stimulating. While the David Hume Institute does not endorse all the views expressed in the books, they will be good reads, based on evidence, and have something of importance to say about Scotland and the world.

The launch event will explain both why we decided to put together the list, and why the specific books on this year's list were chosen.

The launch will begin at 6.00pm and be chaired by the Chair of Trustees of the David Hume Institute, Sir John Elvidge. It will be followed by a drinks reception at 7:30pm.
